Jonas Gold

Born and raised just blocks from the restaurant at 55 Main Street in Flemington, Jonas Gold graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1991 and trained in some of the areas finest restaurants while working along side of some of the top chefs in the industry. Also, he assisted at the James Beard House. Most recently, he has been inducted into Chaine Des Rotisseurs and donates his time to many of the local charity benefit dinners.

Jonas' palate for new American cuisine led him to a position as sous chef at the prestigious Harvest Moon Inn. Following this, he took a challenging Executive Chef position at The Grill at the Pittstown Inn. His talented hand for new American cuisine and constant interaction with the customers quickly became noticed by reviewers and gourmands throughout the area, as well as helping him establish a loyal, local customer following. At the Fox and Hound Tavern, he expanded his cuisine by adding multi–cultural influences to his repertoire and a few more good reviews under his toque. With everything falling into place, Jonas decided that it was time to make his dreams come true and open his own restaurant.

In June 2007, Jonas began transforming an ice cream parlor into his dream, the future home of 55 Main. After three months of doing everything from tiling the kitchen to spackling the walls, Jonas opened the doors to in late October. With his constantly changing menu and his cutting edge specials, there is something for everyone at 55 Main.

Jonas continues to receive rave reviews from the press and has already been given a 3–1/2 star review from the Star Ledger. As chef/owner of 55 Main, Jonas will surely continue to develop and expand his cuisine with unfettered spirit and enthusiasm.
